Couples Emotional Process Therapy

Therapy for couples that

Gets to the heart of the matter

Why you as a therapist should know about

Couples Emotional Process Therapy

I have talked to many therapists who say that counseling couples is so challenging that they only work with certain couples or they limit their couples practice. They get frustrated because clients are so good at involving the therapist in their conflicts (triangulation) and undermining the therapeutic process.

At first most couple counseling systems seem promising, but soon clinical experience shows they are deficient for many clients. Couples Emotional Process Therapy (CEPT) works because it is based on outcome and observational research combined with clinical experience. It helps you understand the underlying patterns of a couples emotional interactions which are key to setting up effective interventions.

Through testing and structured interviews CEPT identifies the underlying dynamics of a relationship. Because you understand the dynamics of a couples conflict, you will never be triangulated again. Then the couples dysfunctional processes are linked to effective therapeutic interventions so you can guide your couples to deeper love and help them find the value and meaning in their relationships.

CEPT is a relationship-oriented approach that combines the therapeutic insights of the major schools of couples therapy into a coherent, organized system. As a therapist you will know when it is appropriate to treat the couple and when individual therapy is indicated because interventions are clearly linked to testing and interview outcomes. Yet within this system each couples uniqueness is recognized and integrated into the treatment. With CEPT your clients move quickly from conflict to teamwork to produce positive long term improvement in their relationship.

CEPT puts you in charge of the therapeutic process and it works well with other counseling systems. You can feel energized after each session and satisfied at the end of the day because of the therapeutic results you are getting.
