Dr. Karen Gless, PhD, MFT, RN,
is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC21423), and a Registered Nurse.
She holds a PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in the Health Sciences and a BS
in Nursing from Arizona State University. She is past president of
the San Diego Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family
Therapists and is past president of the San Diego Society for Sex Therapy and
Education.
Since 1985 Dr. Gless has had a successful practice as a Marriage and Family
Therapist. In her search for more effective therapies for couples she developed
Couples Emotional Process Therapy and is now offering it to other therapist who
are seeking effective approaches.
Besides being an MFT, Dr. Gless is a Registered Nurse and has worked in
medical and psychiatric nursing. Her specialties include couples
therapy, sex therapy, hypnotherapy, EMDR and EFT. Her experience as a Registered Nurse gives her a valuable
understanding of the physical side of sexual problems. In addition, her
specialized training in human sexuality and counseling enable her to work with
the emotional aspects of sexual problems.
Dr. Gless has written numerous articles on “Communication for Couples” for
Living Better Magazine, has appeared on TV shows and has been quoted in
Cosmopolitan Magazine.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist it is Dr. Gless' goal to
help couples enjoy all areas of their relationship. Her focus is on brief
therapy whenever possible.
